I think its safe to say that wings are one of my favourite things to eat, they're so delicious and versatile! Today I decided to make honey sriracha wings and I'm so happy with how they came out. They were the perfect combination of sweet and spicy and they were pretty amazing.
I used wings for this but you can use thighs as well. If you decide to use chicken thighs I would season them, cook them in the oven for 20 minutes on 200C and then brush the sauce onto them and cook for a further 5-10 minutes.
Ingredients:
For the wings:
6 chicken wings
1/2 tsp all purpose seasoning
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp garlic granules
1/4 tsp ground black pepper
1 tbsp sriracha sauce
For the sauce
3 tbsp butter
2 garlic cloves finely minced
1 tbsp ginger finely minced
1/4 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp allspice
4 tbsp honey
6 tbsp sriracha sauce
1/2 tsp light soy sauce
Juice from 1/4 of a lime
Instructions:
Wash and dry your chicken
Add the dry seasoning to your chicken and mix in well
Add the sriracha sauce to your chicken and mix again
Cover and put in the fridge so your chicken can marinate nicely, 24 hours is best but if you're short on time then 2 - 8 hours is fine
Preheat your oven to 180C and place your chicken in the oven for 40 minutes (20 minutes on each side)
15 minutes before your chicken is ready, get started on your sauce
On medium heat, add your butter to a wok or a pan and let it melt
Once melted add your ginger and garlic and cook for about 1-2 minutes
Add in your paprika and allspice and let it cook for about a minute
Add your honey, sriracha sauce, soy sauce, lime juice and let it simmer for about 3-4 minutes or until its a nice sticky consistency
Add the chicken wings to your wok or pan and coat your chicken wings in the sauce
Serve and enjoy! :)
